Observations and Models of Frequency Diversity on Line-of-Sight Microwave Radio Paths
26 June 1986
The availability of a frequency protection channel has traditionally provided a means of reducing the multipath fading outage of microwave radios on line-of-sight paths. The achievable improvements are significantly better for digital radios than for analog FM. We provide an overview of frequency diversity modeling in the context of existing models and detailed field observations of multipath fading.
