Off-line Frequency Correction for Equalization in the EDGE System
01 January 2001
Data transmission through frequency and time selective fading channels in TDMA systems requires fast and efficient signal processing techniques. Some of the TDMA standards, e.g., IS-136, define channel conditions under which tracking with adaptive equalizers are unavoidable in order to satisfy the system performance requirements. Other standards, such as GSM or EDGE, define short-burst systems, which potentially allow burst-based off-line processing. These systems attract special attention because this kind of processing requires reduced complexity and it is suitable for advanced multiple antennas and semi-blind algorithms.
