On the Peierls transition in 2H-NbSe2

We present angle-resolved photoemission data on the Fermi surface topology and conduction band dispersion in the layered metal 2H-NbSe2. The experimental results yield strong evidence that the charge density wave instability in this material is driven by Fermi surface nesting and not by saddle point singularities.
