On the use of S-ALOHA with retransmission control in wireless IR networks
01 January 1999
This paper presents an investigation of the effect of blockage due to shadowing, on the throughput performance of random access ALOHA-type protocols when used in wireless IR indoor networks. In a previous work it was shown that the performance of slotted-ALOHA with a constant retransmission policy, when used as the uplink medium access technique in a wireless IR network, suffers high performance degradation up to 30%, due to link blockage. In this paper we propose the use of various retransmission policies in order to improve the protocol performance
