Operator Trial of 100 Gbit/s FLCS-PON with Soft-Decision FEC and Probabilistic Shaping

FLCS-PON is a 100 Gbit/s flexible PON prototype with ability to maximize capacity to user groups by adjusting modulation and coding parameters. We extend FLCS-PON with soft input FEC and probabilistic shaping, and report on results of an operator trial. We map the achievable bitrates onto operator's existing GPON infrastructure to quantify upgrade benefits.
