Optical Digital Computers - Status Report

A simple optical pipelined processor has been demonstrated using four arrays of S-SEEDs, the photonic equivalent of an R-S flip flop. We are currently using a 6 by 8 array of devices. We are extending this to 64 by 32 and larger. These gates have been pushed to 2 Gighertz but this requires a considerable amount of laser power so we cannot presently drive a large array at this time.
