Optical Fiber Cables

In this chapter, the construction and the optical and mechanical performance of these four leading designs for outside plant applications are summarized. The primary emphasis is on single-mode cable used in North America and Europe. Tight buffer cables will also be reviewed briefly. These designs are used in undersea crossings and tactical battlefield communications, providing extremely robust cables for difficult environments.
