Optical frame timing recovery in a wavelength-addressed time- sharing ring network

We demonstrated optical frame timing recovery in a three node wavelength-addressed time-sharing (WATS) ring network. Bit-error- rate performance indicates no significant degradation is introduced by WATS operation or optically recovered frame timing. This also demonstrates that utilizing network structures in conjunction with optical techniques can provide sophisticate network signaling and control functions such as addressing and grooming.
