Optical FSK Transmitter Using Widely Tunable GCSR Lasers

In this paper we present a tunable optical FSK transmitter using a Grating-assisted Coupler Sampled Reflector (GCSR) laser. FSK is a suitable encoding technique for transmitting label data in IP/GMPLS data switched optical networks [1]. In such a scheme, an optical label is imprinted on the two optical FSK tones and attaches to payload data, which intensity modulate the FSK signal.
