Optical injection of quantum dot and quantum dash semiconductor lasers
01 January 2009
In this communication, we report experimental results on optical injection of quantum dot (Q-dot) and quantum dash (Q-dash) semiconductor multi-mode lasers. We show the impact of a strong damping on optical injection map and reveal the observation of a random phenomenon of multi-excitability on such structure. These properties are obtained thanks to the different structural properties of Q-dash and Q-dot and by comparing Q-dash lasers having different numbers of Q-dash plans. The general overview of optical injection of Q-dash and Q-dot do not reveal unknown behaviors and show for these components the fundamental role of the damping factor, of the confinement factor and of the differential gain.
