Optical Parameters for SONET and the Synchronous Digital Hierarchy

ANSI T1.106-1988 and ANSI EIA/TIA-559 describe the optical parameters and methodology for engineering unrepeatered spans up to 40 km in length for SONET systems. Work is continuing in T1X1.5 to standardize optical parameters for a ~2 km link. This link is being designed as a low cost interface for cross-office and short haul applications.
