Optical Stark in Organic Dyes Probed with Optical Pulses of 6-fs Duration

The optical Stark effect and its dynamics have been observed for the first time in organic dye molecules in solution using femtosecond optical pulses. Lineshape distortions were investigated at high pump intensities, and the intensity variation of the Stark shift was used to obtain a value for the dipole moment of the rhodamine B dye molecule.
