This talk defines what Common Channel Signaling is and gives an overview of the components that make up the Common Channel Signaling network. The definition of a protocol is given and the Signaling System Number 7 protocol is described. Finally, the advantages of Signaling System Number 7, such as reduced call setup times, increased efficiency of the telephone network, and advanced telecommunications services, are discussed.
