Oxygen is an unintentional dopant in silicon crystal grown by the Czochralski (CZ) method employing silica crucibles. Modern integrated circuits (VLSI & ULSI) depend on highly perfect single crystals, which are prepared exclusively by the CZ method. The incorporation of oxygen during crystal growth is controlled by several factors.
