Panel Session: UNIX(R) Systems Operations, Administration, and Maintenance
01 January 1989
Two significant tasks in the operation and administration of a UNIX(R) system are backups and software management. Backups fill the critical need of collecting data for protection against accidental loss or hardware failure. Software distribution, installation, and update tasks are required to keep your system up to date, consistent with other systems you maintain, and to ensure softwar integrity. This presentation will discuss the backup and software management issues in large, complex UNIX(R) system environments, common tool pitfalls, and survival tips.
