Parametric Amplification Driven by Orthogonal Pump Waves in Birefringent Fibers

Parametric amplification driven by orthogonal pump waves in birefringent polarization-maintaining fibers is studied in detail. The effects of birefringence on the gain bandwidths, maximal gains and polarization sensitivities associated with orthogonal pump waves are determined.
