Parametric converter performance on a beyond the horizon microwave link

Describes tests with low-noise (1.5dB) parametric convertors on a 180-mile; scatter link, operating on 900 Mc/s. Measurements were made simultaneously on two dual-diversity pairs of receivers, one of the normal type (8.8dB noise figure) and the other pair with the parametric converters. Both telephone-channel noise and teleprinter error rate were measured, as well an noise quieting characteristics, aerial v.s.w.r., noise figure and aerial noise temperature. Block diagrams and a few graphs are taken up to give the test set-up and the most significant results.
