PC-Based Applications for ISDN Centrex (2-3)

A key element necessary to make ISDN Centrex services a commercial success is the development of new applications packages that build on and expand the functionality of basic ISDN services. Since many potential ISDN users already have phones and personal computers in their offices, a variety of services are possible that combine the transport and signaling capabilities of ISDN, the voice features of the phone, and the data processing, storage, and user interface capabilities of the personal computer. This paper describes a system architecture, some applications, and a potential new market for ISDN Centrex, phones and personal computers.
