Performance Evaluation of the VBLAST Algorithm in W-CDMA Systems

In this paper we evaluate performance of the VBLAST receiver algorithm in multiple-transmit/multiple-receive antenna cellular W-CDMA systems. We assume that the VBLAST algorithm is executed on a symbol level (i.e., on the despreaded received signal), following a conventional RAKE receiver. Performance of the algorithm in the presence of intra- and inter-cell multiple-access interference (MAI) is evaluated using simulations and recent outdoor propagation measurements of multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) systems.
