We report on the performance of a newly constructed synchrotron radiation soft x-ray beamline. This beamline, named Dragon, is a spherical version of the cylindrical element monochromator design proposed previously. By measuring the K-edge absorption spectra of condensed nitrogen, it is determined that this monochromator has achieved resolving power 10 sup 4 at 400eV photon energy, using its full 15 mrad by 1 mrad angular acceptance.
