Phase-Sensitive Amplification Produced by Degenerate Four-Wave Mixing in a Fiber

Degenerate scalar and vector four-wave mixing produce phase- sensitive amplfication in a fiber. The quantum-mechanical properties of these schemes are described, and formulas for the field-quadrature and photon-number variances are derived.
