The New Fiber Optic Trans Atlantic Telephone #8 (TAT-8) Ocean Cable electronic hardware shown here with the AT&T Cable Ships Long Lines and Charles L. Brown, is protected from the hostile ocean environment by a Cu-Be alloy high pressure housing. The extraordinary design requirements of 24 years service at 12,000 psi (depth equivalent approximately 25,000 feet) in the ocean environment is easily met by the modified C17000 Cu-Be Alloy.
