Physical and Chemical Changes of Ices Induced by Charged Particles and Applications to Uranus

A summary will be given of laboratory work which has been carried out in order to understand the physical and chemical modifications of charged particles incident on ices. This work provides the data required to obtain physical understanding of observed solar system materials, to interpret satisfactorily spectral data obtained by remote sensing, and to describe phenomena in many different regions of space.
