The rise of the World Wide Web and the market growth of mobile devices with advanced data capability make the mobile Internet the inevitable next big wave of technology. Due to the form factor limitation, mobile device will never be used as a Web browsing tool like its desktop counterpart. People will use the mobile device to access important personal information, communicate with people using messaging facilities, discover local information, and navigate through a well-organized information directory. We proposed a simple information access method called Pixel Navigator. It utilizes images with hotspot data for user interaction. We'll compare it to the other popular wireless data services like i-mode, WAP, etc. Performance issues in Pixel Navigator will be discussed to illustrate the tradeoffs in an image-only system.
