In the radio operating room there are two positions for short waves and broadcasting, one for medium-wave telegraphy and one for long-wave telegraphy. The eleven receivers comprise four for short waves, four for medium waves and three for long waves. The two short-wave transmitters deliver about 500 W to the aerial systems and ten spot wave-lengths are available on each transmitter under dial selection. Both the long and the medium transmitters deliver 3 kW to the aerial. Seven wave-lengths are used for long wave and five for medium wave communication. The power supply room contains a duplicate machine group of 40 kW each for converting the ship's d.c. supply to 220 V, 3-phase, 50 ~, for the operation of the radio equipment. The aerial installation comprises four transmitting, five receiving and one emergency transmitting-receiving aerial.
