The author describes the technical arrangements made in connection with the Congress held in Buenos Aires, the dissemination of the proceedings over Europe and the transmission and broadcasting of the Pope's message and benediction from the Vatican City radio station. The first circuit proposed was a direct one between Vatican City and Buenos Aires. While the circuit was satisfactory for commercial telephony, it could not meet the requirements of broadcasting. An excellent direct circuit was later made available by using the radio equipment at the Madrid station, Madrid acting as a repeater point for the Vatican and Buenos Aires transmitters. Arrangements were made with the British Post Office for the use of the London terminal as a general distribution centre for all of Europe and with the German Reichspost for its terminal to supply an auxiliary channel in case of unforeseen and unavoidable difficulties on the routes via Madrid or London. The paper describes the various details at considerable length.
