R&D UNIX(R) System for Sun Workstations

The presentation will cover the Computing Technology Center's efforts to integrate Sun workstations into the AT&T Bell Laboratories computing and networking environment. An overview of the R&D UNIX(R) System (RDS) and the Datakit(R) VCS network will also be given. The computing environment for Bell Labs is based on the UNIX(R) System V operating system. The Center provides a homogeneous set of tools/functionality over heterogeneous architectures supplied by vendors, such as Amdahl, DEC, and AT&T through the R&D UNIX(R) System.
