Real-time Spectral Pre-Distortion with FPGA and DAC at 448-Gb/s DP-16QAM Improving Nonlinear Threshold Power

We report on non-linear threshold improvements of PM-16QAM signals by spectral pre-distortion with transmitter based digital signal processing. Experimental results confirm an increase of fibre launch power of ~ 1.5 dB after 6 spans of SMF transmission by pre-distortion, yielding 2.5 dB increase in case of an optimized flattened spectrum.
