Non-linear tolerance improvements of DP-16QAM (28 Gbd) signals by transmitter based digital signal pre-distortion are reported, showing performance gains of fibre launch power versus pre-distortion (~1.5 dB for 6 uncompensated SMF spans) and a reduction of the non-linear threshold spans scaling factor to ~7
