Reducing the complexity of mesh nodes by using reflective wavelength- selective switches

We show that if one applies the constraint of symmetric demands in a network then one can significantly simplify the wavelength switching hardware at mesh nodes. We show designs for nodes of degree 3 through 6. All required components are commercially available. We experimentally demonstrate two of the designs.
