Rejection Techniques in Continuous Speech Recognition Using Hidden Markov Models

In this paper we deal with the concept of rejection, that is, of electing not to force a decision if there is considerable uncertainty which of several Markov models best matches the speech. We present some recent studies in rejection techniques for continuous speech recognition, based on HMMs (hidden Markov models).
