Relationship between attenuation and wire-braid design for flexible radio-frequency cables

The geometrical properties of a braid, its lay and filling factors are defined. An expression is given for the attenuation of the cable in terms of these factors. Graphs relate these to the braid construction. The method of computing the attenuation is valid at frequencies for which circulating currents around the inner layer of braiding wires can be neglected.
