This paper will address the strengths and weaknesses of various methods for producing bulk single crystals of compound semiconductor materials. The Czochralski method, Bridgman-Stockbarger processes (in both horizontal and vertical orientations) and their variants, and recent innovations, such as the Mellen "Electrodynamic Gradient" approach and the "Heat Extractor Method", will be described.
