Reliability Testing of Power Units

For experimentally determining the MTBF of power units and board-mounted power modules with expected MTBFs in the range from 10 to 200 years, either large sample sizes or long test times with a large failure rate acceleration factor are necessary. Practical aspects of confirming the MTBF of power designs are discussed and possible tradeoffs are identifies and presented in graphical form.
