The 5ESS(R) System has many customers - each of the telephone companies in the United States and many internation telecommunications administrations. Each of these service providers have end users who use the telephony services to make voice and/or data calls. The requirements generation process takes the customer needs and the needs of AT&T as a business, and translates them into technical product specifications. The requirements specifications are then used by developers to build the product and by performance verification to test the product.
