Resonant Zener Tunneling of Electrons across the Band-Gap between bound states in the Valence-band and conduction-band Quantum wells in a multiple quantum well structure

Resonant tunneling (RT) of electrons within the conduction- band has been previously studied in a variety of double carrier, superlattice and multiple quantum-well (MQW) structures. In the present work, we have studied RT of electrons across the band-gap from a bound state in a valence-band quantum well into the two-dimensional system of states in an adjacent conduction-band well. This occurs under the application of high electric fields to the MQW.
