Scalable Mobile Backhauling via Information-Centric Networking

The fifth generation mobile network (5G) is considered the successor of the 4G/LTE-Advanced for the mobile network beyond 2020. This paper bridges Information Centric Networking (ICN), a novel networking communication model centred around named contents, and 5G. We investigate the potential of ICN in next generation mobile networks. In particular we present ICN benefits and show how they can allow 5G to meet both quantitative and qualitative targets of next generation mobile networks.
