Scheduling Design for Uplink NB-IoT

Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) is a new cellular technology introduced in 3GPP Release 13 for providing wide-area coverage for the Internet of Things (IoT). In this paper, we provide a system-level evaluation of the uplink NB- IoT and propose a scheduler design for uplink NB-IoT. Simulation results show that the capacity target (i.e. 52547 devices within a cell site sector) can be comfortably met and higher capacity is observed when using the proposed scheduler compared to the baseline schedulers due to improved resource efficiency.
