Sci/Tech Searching at AT&T Bell Laboratories: The Pace Quickens

Sci/tech information retrieval in this industrial setting has dramatically changed over the past few years. One cause is the customer need for faster delivery of information dictated in response to marketplace needs. Other causes include advances in search engines, cost-recovery issues, electronic delivery of information, end-user searching, intellectual property issues, and the need to obtain information from a myriad of world-wide sources.
