INTRODUCTION: Components are the basic building blocks of manufacturing processes. These components include structural components such as ferrous and nonferrous castings, parts from metal fabricating operations, pieces from plastic moulding operations, and a wide variety of mechanical and electrical components. Mechanical components include special components such as cylinders, pistons and linkages; standard components such as bearings, gears and shafts; and many highly standardized minor components such as nuts, bolts, washers, springs and fasteners.
