Silicon Photonic Integrated Circuits for High-Capacity Optical Communications

We review silicon photonic integrated circuits for high-capacity optical communications. These circuits include highly integrated dual-polarization in-phase/quadrature modulators, single-chip polarization-diversity receivers, multi-channel discrete multi-tone modulation and detection circuits, and Stokes vector receivers. The high-degree integration of silicon photonics leads to low-cost and compact high-capacity optical modules.
