Spectroscopy of excitons and phonons in quantum well heterostructures.

Resonant Raman scattering has disclosed several unique features of the electronic and vibrational excitations of GaAs-A1GaAs quantum well heterostructures. The effects of reduced dimensionality on these properties are striking, and lead to exciton-optical phonon scattering phenomena which are unparalleled in bulk semiconductors.
