Spectrum and propagation of lower hybrid waves in the Alcator C tokamak.

Waveguide-launched lower hybrid waves are studied in plasmas in the Alcator C tokamak using CO2 laser scattering techniques. The N spectrum near the plasma edge (N is the index of refraction of the waves parallel to the magnetic field) is similar to theoretical predictions of the launched spectrum and varies with waveguide phasing, however the N spectrum farther in the plasma is shifted to lower N and is independent of waveguide phase.
