Spectrum-Slicing of Coherent Sources in Optical Communications

We review recent experiments which utilize spectrum-slicing of broadband coherent light from modelocked lasers or from supercontinuum sources to achieve high capacity transmission, high channel count and optical code-division multiple access systems.
