Spin Polarized Photoemission Studies of the Fe 3p Core Level of Clean and Adsorbate Covered Fe(001).
Spin polarized photoemission studies of the Fe 3p core level from a clean Fe(001) surface reveal an exchange splitting of 0.35 eV, considerably less than the 2.46 eV predicted in first principles LDA calculations. The difference is attributed to final state effects which also play a role in determining the relative intensity of the two spin resolved components. However, unlike an earlier study no spin dependence is observed in the line shape of the two components.
