Strain and Critical Thickness in GaSb(100)/AlSb

New Image

The GaSb/AlSb system is an excellent system for the study of optical and electronic properties in strained layers. While its lattice mismatch is small enough to make pseudomorphic overlayers with thicknesses in the range of 100angstroms possible, the mismatch is non-zero. It is one of the test systems for theories of heterojunction band lineups and is also of practical importance since it can operate in the low loss region of optical fibers. Due to its reactivity, however, data on structures involving AlSb is rare.
