Structure Analysis of Epitaxial Layers

The epitaxial growth of (semiconductor) layered structures yields novel material configurations leading to new solid state science and technology. This talk will: 1) illustrate the role that fundamental surface structure can play in the process od epitaxial growth and 2) demonstrates the existence of strained layer structures, grown on the monolayer scale, which results in crystal structures with new properties.
