Sub-Word Unit Talker Verification Using Hidden Markov Models

Most talker verification systems make use of talker models based on analysis of whole words or phrases. A series of experiments has been carried out to assess the performance of a talker verification system based on sub-word unit talker models represented as Hidden Models (HMM's). Both conventional phone-like units and the more recently proposed acoustic segment units have been studied. Basing talker verification techniques on sub-word units can expand the versatility and apllicability of verification systems.
