Switch Performance Modeling Process (1-7) (NOT PUBLISHED)
21 July 1989
Customer oriented performance recommendations for Integrated Services Digital Networks (ISDN) have been developed as part of the international standardization process. Performance Modeling provides a means by which critical customer performance requirements can be projected and tracked from the planning stage through design, development, testing and delivery of the product to the customer. Early performance modeling results in architectural changes at early stages of the development cycle before changes become too costly to implement. An additional benefit of performance modeling is that it allows more efficient utilization of laboratory resources by providing a contextual framework within which system verification can occur. We describe the Swith Performance Modeling Process in general terms and then illustrate its current role in the development cycle of the 5ESS(R) Switch.
