Switching with Code Division Multiplex.

Code division is used as a means of making a multiplicity of input channels orthogonal (or nearly so) so that any input to a CDM switch that uses this orthogonalizing scheme can be switched to any output. This type of a switch is nonblocking and has inherent broadcast capability because all inputs are presented to each output decoder/demodulator and the decoder merely selects the desired output while rejecting the other input channels. The use of CDM together with TDM and SDM and the advantages to be obtained by combining them in a switch is discussed.
